As Superintendent, it is my belief that it is essential to build relationships with our staff, students and most importantly with our community. Mr. Murillo has been designing, developing and deploying a Parent Academy that holds firm to this very notion of building community.
Currently they have had two groups who have graduated from the Parent Academy and are beginning the next round of training. The vision is to empower our parents to become teachers for other parents.
Center School District Parent Involvement mission
To empower parents and families to support their children's academic and social-emotional development from the cradle through high school graduation, to college and/or workforce. We will accomplish this by strengthening district, school, family and community partnerships through parental support and education. To ensure that ALL students become productive and responsible citizens, Center School District staff, family members, and community will work together to increase and strengthen family and school partnerships.

Mr . Murillo- My personal vision of the parent academy is to build a genuine partnership with parents and the community which will enable us to educate parents about our school system and what goes on in our classrooms. Another one of my goals is to make parents comfortable with technology. I would like to eventually extend learning to parents via duolingo, Khan Academy, math Olympics etc. Communication is a big goal as we are learning how to better communicate with each other. I also want to educate parents about the rights and responsibilities they have as parents. Lastly, I want to build capacity and parent capitol by having parents present and teach other parents to build capacity.
Mr. Murrillo is taking a leadership role in reaching out to our community, opening our doors and egaging parents within our work. Our hopes are to have all parents and community engaged with their students edcuational experience.
